Trip to Madurai – Rameshwaram – part 1

It was a long time planning that we did to execute this plan. We have been lanning it from 2 months now. We were unable to get the tickets. So we booked tickets for June in April itself. The tickets were in waiting list beginning…so we thought it would get confirmed as there would be a lot of cancellations in the meantime…

But no…we were still moved on to RAC but no confirmed seats….
Return tickets were still in waiting list and not even in RAC..

Our train was at 9:15 for which we had to leave home at 7:15PM….we got to know that we had confirmed tickets at 6:30….
We packed and left in an auto to the railway station.

Prashanth and I were joined by mummy daddy and Sangu at the station. Our train was 6732 (Tuticorin express) and was expected at platform. It was late by more than 30 minutes.
We decided to sit down at the nicely tiled new waiting areas that have been put up in the Bangalore City station.
Unfortunately we don’t see people wanting to keep it clean….someone kept spitting and so we had to get up and go to some bench.
Once the train was at the station we got in. we had tickets in 3 tier AC…so we expected quite a luxury.

Our trains had extra berths during Lalu Prasad Yadav’s rein as a railway minister which have been taken off now from allotment….now the numbers were not changed…they were written in a green pen. So there was a hell lot of confusion about which were the right numbers.

Finally we settled down in our seats which were all not together.
Prashanth did a lot of swapping donating his lower berths to the needy : )….

People decided that we could actually put up the berths and go to sleep only by 11PM. It was quite late…finally we dozed off.
Next morning we were awake at 6 expecting the train to reach at 6:30. But we were wrong. We reached Madurai only at 7:30 Am.
By then we had finished brushing and all that.

Just a piece of information for people who want to go to Kodaikanal…..This train would take you to Kodai road which is at the foothill of kodaikanal. This is the only way to reach Kodaikanal by train (that is getting down at Kodai road station)

We were also quite surprised to see that most small stations were very clean and nicely maintained.
