Theeradha vilayattu pillai

I have loads of relatives in chennai. Thats the only place I get to sing when a few people are listening:)…and most of them prefer the tamizh songs …devotional….
its because they listen to it very often and are familiar with it, it is understandable in terms of meaning and tune (not very classical and complicated)…..also it is popular..
These things motivated me to get into learning of these kind of songs….
Since I am in Bangalore….I do not really get to learn this in music classes as teachers here do not teach those kind of songs. Even if they do, it is mostly devarnamas (whcih are sweet and nice in their own ways) which are kannada songs.
Hence I have ventured into learning these myself……God save the music world ;)

Theeradha vilayattu pillai is one of the kind…
Lyrics go as below (taken from http://www.karnatik.com/)
theeraadha vilaiyaattup pillai -
kannantheruvilae pengalukkoayaadha thollai
(theeraadha)

thinnap pazham kondu varuvaan -
paadhithinginra poadhilae thattip parippaan
ennappan ennaiyaan enraal -
adhanaiechchir paduththik kadiththuk koduppaan
(theeraadha)

azhagulla malar kondu vandhae -
ennaiazha ahach cheydhapin kannai moodik kol
kuzhalilae soottuvaen enbaan -
ennaikkurudaakki malarinai thoazhikku vaippaan
(theeraadha)

pinnalaip pinninrizhuppaan -
thalaipinnae thirumbumun naer senru maraivaan
vannap puduch chaelai thanilae -
puzhudivaarich chorindhae varuththik kulaippaan
(theeraadha)

pullaanguzhal kondu varuvaan -
amudhupongith thadhumbu nal geedham padaippaan
kallaal mayanguvadhu poalae -
adhainaikkanmoodi vaaythirandhae kaettiruppoam
(theeraadha)

Its a very simple song describing the leelas of Lord Krishna.
I get to listen to the song on http://www.musicindiaonline.com/

The song is composed by Subramanya Bharathi. It is in Ragamalika (combo of raagas) and Eka thalam.

Extremely easy to learn. But after learning i felt it was a bit too long…people do not have the patience if you go on singing….so I am on the look out for other such songs:)…nevertheless…I have learnt this pretty well…great way to go!!!
