I learnt this song recently….Initially I was not very interested. But my teacher said it is a very nice song and all that and so I learnt it…but as I started learning…I loved it…

Composer is Swathi thirunal.
My teacher seems to have a special affection for swathi thirunal. She plans to teach me many of his songs. I have been in the trend of learning thyagaraja and other people’s compositions. This one is quite new.
Speaking of this song specially…I liked its’ charanam for the way it is sung…atleast the way my teacher taught me…it sounds somewhat different… the pappy stuff again :)
I found the lyrics of the song on karnatik.com. There 3 charanams are listed. I learnt only the first one. I have anyway given the complete lyrics for other people’s benefit.
the song goes like this:
pallavi
paripAlaya mAm shrI padmanAbha murArE (pari)
anupallavi
sharaNAgata bharaNOtsuka shAradasOma samAna virinca surEshvara sEvya(pari)
caraNam 1
tAmarasAyata lOcana cArutanO dharaNIdhara dharavana-dAma virAjita dAruNadanubhava ghanavipina dahana (pari)
caraNam 2
dAnamatAngaja cAruvilAsagatE tapanIya vasana muni-mAnasa tAma rasAlaya maNImaya makuTa parilasita (pari)
caraNam 3
nIla ghanOpama sundara dEharucE nikhilAmara bhayaharashaila sutAdhava sannuta shamaya mama sakala gadamiha (pari)

talking about the raagam reethigowla….one of the very famous film songs is based on this…the tamil song azhagaana raakshasiye from the movie mudhalvan.
There are many other famous keerthanams on this raagam….raaga rathna, nannu vidachi etc.

Could not get the meaning of the song tho….hope someone could help me out with it…makes more sense to enjoy the song whose lyrics you understand.
