Sundara Kaandam

My sister and mom heard the katha kalashyam by Smt Vishaka Hari at the Sai baba temple and got one of her CDs after being immensely impressed. I was not very interested.
But then I watched the CD anyway. The CD was of Sundara kaandam. This part of ramayana talks of Hanuman’s greatness and his association with lord Rama.

I loved it. She has so much enthusiasm. Her recital was very good and understandable. She also keeps it so lively that one does not loose interest.
The songs that she has sung in it are all Thyagaraja’s and most of them have been listed in my blogs.
The lenaing s that she explains for the songs…..amazing….when you listen to the meaning of the song in a context…it makes much much more sense

Her’s was the first one of the kind that i have heard. I am planning to listen to some more.
one advantage is that we learn the songs and their relevant meanings more easily in one shot
second is that we also get to listen to the mythological stories in a more interesting way.

of course…forgot to mention…the whole thing is in the tamil language…..
