Sri Saraswathi Namosthuthe….I have started learning this one for this vijaya dasami..
my teacher was quite surprised to know that I had not learnt this before…it seems this is one of the songs learnt at very early stages…anyways…I am learning it now..

This is a composition in the Aarabhi Ragam and roopaka thalam
Composer is Muthuswamy dikshitar

This is a janya ragam of Dheera Shankarabharanam which is of 29th Melakartha

There is a new term associated with this song that I have never discussed before…that is "SAMASHTI charanam".
this is basically a song that has only 2 parts. There is no anupallavi to the song.There could be more than one charanams without an anuapallavi and all these would be called samashti charanams.

O Sri Saraswati, Supreme Goddess, I pray to you. Your are adored by Lord Vishnu (Sripati), Lord Siva (Gowripati) and Lord Shanmukha and are the consort of Lord Brahma.
You are the remover of three longing desires (to acquire land, wealth and women), worshipped by demigods and sages. You are the bestower of boons to all the gods and people including Lord Vishnu. You are of great fame and repute.
Your lotus-like face always wears a beautiful smile. Your feet are made from the beautiful lotus flower. You remove fear of the cycle of birth and death and hold the secret of all syllables in hymns.
