This post will be about Sri Ranganaatham.
I learn this song with a chittaswaram. Nice lively raagam. …
Talam: Aadhi

The composer of this song seems to be again in ambiguity. Some say it was composed by Muthuswamy Dikishitar…but there is a debate that says this was composed by one of his disciples after his demise. So as usual…i dont want to comment on it.

The Song goes as follows:

pallavi

shrI ranganaatham upaasmahe nithyam
sita-vallabham shri-shankara-guru-guha-vedyam

Samashti charanam

naaradhaadhi-nutha-shyaamala-gaathram
neeranjaari maarthaanda sunethram
dheerataram sharachaapa dharanam
dhevaraaja poojithaabja charanam

Chittaswaram
R g m r s n P p r s R g m
r P m g m r g m | r g m p d p S
s n p R r g m R r s n P R|
S P r s n p | n p m g m r g m

I am not sure if i have discussed samashti charanam before…anyway…no harm doing it again….
It is a charanam in a song where there is no anupallavi. It directly occurs after the pallavi.

I have not been finding the meanings of the songs lately. Not sure why they are not available anywhere. Will keep looking….and will post as soon as I get anything.
I strongly beleive that meaing is absolutely necessary for many reasons….to get the feel of the song…to sing the words right…
So I will keep looking….
