Sarasijaakshulu

This is a song that I had learnt a dance for…the dance was shabdam…

Its nostalgic…I just found this song by chance over the net and I kind of got back all my memories of bharathnatyam…could not stop myself from posting this song

The song is sarasijaakshulu….
this song is in Raagamaalika [not sure...some places I see it is kamboji...would be great if someone can clarify]with Triputa thalam.
This song describes the leelas or playfulness of Krishna with the Gopika girls

The lyrics of the song goes like this

sarasijaakshulu jalagamaate
tharunamuna nee vachadiki jani
sariga kokalu mella cheikoni
taruvu nekkuga joochu chuntuda dharmamaa

When lotus eyed girls are taking bath, you watching them, taking their clothes and hiding them away….Does this suit you?

utti meedhanu pettiyunte
chatti paaluni chutti ganukoni
kotti chethula patti thaagina getti tanamidhi kaadhayyaa

I kept all the churned butter on the attick. You being so mischeivous broke the pot and drank away all the buttermilk. Do you think this is very wise of you to do so?

alla lakshmi valla putavai tolli
alaree balla lopala golla patuchla
goodithivi ati chekku neekidhi chellunaa

You are the husband of Goddess Lakshmi. You are coming to a small village and playing pranks on shepard girls. Does this suit you?

ilanu ninu madhi dhalachi joodaga
nalugurunu ninu nagudhuranu chinu lalitha
malaiyaalamuna taagina bhalli bhali shree padhmanaabha saiaamayyaa

Doing all this you have made me want to see you always. People are talking about you so much and laughing. You hide yourself behing the beautiful mountain. Hail to you lord VIshnu, I salute you.
