Yesudas concert – Omkaara porule
This is a continuation of the post http://blogs.prashu.com/music-and-me/content/2009/04/00367/yesudas-concert-sarasaangi-nee-pai.php
Next was a song on lord Ganesha. This was a composition in the tamil language
Raagam: Hamsavinodhini or bhavabharana
Yesudas explained why sometimes raagams had more than one name. He said that in olden days when these raagm were conceived….there was not a very good communication media. So it happened sometimes that 2 people at different places came up with the same raagam and named it in their own way.
This raagam is a janya of the 29th melakartha raagam which is dheera shankarabharanam
It is shankarabharanam without the panchamam in its aarohanam

I have listened to Sri.KJY rendering ‘Omkara porule’ in a raga having the same arohana/avarohana as Hamsavinodini but taking Shuddha Dha instead of the Chatushruti Dha which is present in Hamsavinodini. Any more light on this, please?
