Nannuvidachi – reethigowla

Reethigowla is a very melodius ragam…..but I was not very fond of this song when I learnt it. Why was that??!!because I took time to pick it up …. so dint like it ;)

Now I realize it is a really nice song.

I found a lot of lyrics to this song…. I have learnt only the charanam 2 in the lyrics mentioned below.
Also there seem to be a lot of variants of the words that are used. Never seen it before. But just so the readers get all the information… I am not cutting down on anything. Lyrics taken from karnatik.com

Thyagaraja has depicted nava vida bhakthi (9 types of devotion) in his compositions. This song depicts the athma nivedhanam (self surrender)

The movie song azhagana rakshasiye from the movie mudhalvan is in this ragam. Some other famous movie songs in this ragam are nada vinodangal, china kannan azhaikiran

Another keerthanam is raaga rathna….a thyagaraja composition in this ragam.

Now back to nannuvidachi………..

Meaning:
Dear Rama! Do not leave me or let me down. I cannot stand separation from you even for a second. Today I feel like one burned by the fierce rays of the sun who has found the shade of the Kalpaka tree for rest. Spouse of Lakshmi! I feel like I have found a pure pearl, serene after a deep dive into the sea, controlling my breath to its furthest. I found you today as if I found a treasure while digging in the earth. I experience the relief of a hail storm on a hot day. This body of Tyaagaraaja is in your possession. Accept it, O Lord, with your usual grace.
