The labour whom we appoined always took us for a ride….
I thought I will put down a post with the knowledge that I have gained so that someone else who reads this would have a better head start….
Caution: This is for a repaint only. I am not aware of specifics of fresh painting

We just finished one of our important festivals yesterday…It was the Kaaradayam nombu.
This is a festival celebrated by Tamil Brahmins. This is a day for the ladies to pray that their husbands (or husbands to be) are always with them and that their relationship never dies.
It is an equivalent to karvachauth celebrated in north India….of course…since this festival concerns a very small community….it is not that famous and widely celebrated.

I have always made palak paneer but found that the dark green colour is somehow lost during the cooking.
I found out from someone that adding a pinch of sugar to the palak while cooking would keep it green. I have not tried it…but you can try and let me know if it works.

I am stuck with a current situation where I need to remove a lot of grease from my kitchen shelf doors…they have become horribly sticky
Someone told me that I could sprinkle some vinegar and then wipe it off with a cloth and this would remove the grease. Got to try it.
My doors are all wooden…and So I am not sure which is the right remedy to use…not sure what suits wood..
However …got to try it and check.
Also heard that kerosene can be used the same way by sprinkling and wiping away….

There are lots of times when women want to postpone their periods. Using pills for this is possible. But I have heard of lots of side effects of these.
One way to do this using home remedies is eating roasted gram dal (pottu kadalai in tamil, chutney bele in kannada).
Start eating this (a big handful) early morning everyday from a few days before the actual expected date. Also try and snack on it now and then during the day.
This cools the body and hence results in delay of periods.
I have tried it and it works. You too can try it….

I finally made my own idli paste…this is how u do it
take 5 portions of rice (boiled rice). The portions can be in anything…cups, tumblers…anything.
Boiled rice is better than normal rice. But do not get the long one…get salem boiled…
the rice is small small….witish and off witish…
if it is the normal rice also it is ok but take only 3 portions…
soak it in water for about 4 to 5 hours

Instead of using any moisturisers or creams for the skin, try this…
as soon as you finish bath pat yourself with a towel ( do not rub away the water)
then apply coconut oil all over your body on the supple moist skin.
This would do…no need of any moisturiser…
I tried this and found it very good.
the coconut oil does not make the skin sticky…it evaporates after sometime. but the skin does not become dry.
It seems if this is practised continuously, over time the skin texture changes naturally….

After squeezing a lemon dont throw away the cup like structure of the lemon peel. Pour a few drops of coconut oil into it and rub it on your elbows, knees and any other portion of skin which is darkened…..it helps lghten and soften the skin.

The other day I was at the clinic and saw this ad there…
If you have any trouble with ulcers in the mouth, then take a fresh cut onion piece and place it on the ulcer for sometime. The ulcer will vanish. Looks like something I should try next time I get an ulcer.
